I’m Just Avenging You
Leaping flames illuminated the flower house, accompanied by the screams of many.
The heart-wrenching cries were especially terrifying in the dead of night. The child, eyes wide with fear, watched the raging flames outside, reaching out to pat the gardener who was still sound asleep.
The gardener was awakened by the commotion. Upon seeing the situation outside, he grabbed the child and tried to rush out.
However, before he could leave the flower house, he was suddenly pierced through the chest by a sharp sword.
A torrent of blood spurted from the gardener’s chest. The child, eyes wide, watched the man suddenly fall into a pool of blood, his legs weakening as he knelt on the ground, unable to utter a sound.
A strange man glanced at him, his voice icy cold, “Are you the person Song Bingcheng wants to take away?”
The child stared blankly at the man in front of him, his eyes full of anger, but he froze in place out of fear.
Something warm ran down his chin and onto his fingertips. He looked down; it was blood, bright red blood, the gardener’s blood.
A surge of courage filled his heart. He swung his fist and struck the man hard.
The man burst into laughter, “Tsk, not scared at all? You’re quite interesting. No wonder Song Bingcheng wants to take you back.”
“I, I’ll beat you, you bad man! Beat you! You, you owe me my gardener! Owe me my gardener! Woooo!” The child cried heart-wrenchingly, hitting the man in front of him with all his might.
He used all his strength, but how much strength could a five-year-old have? To the man, it was merely a tickle.
The man simply lifted the child by his collar, laughing cruelly, seemingly not understanding why he was crying. His voice was chillingly cold, “Why are you crying? Haven’t these people been bullying you all along? I’m just avenging you.”
He pinched the child’s face and carried him out of the flower house, pointing to several people in the distance who were screaming in agony amidst the flames. He said cruelly, “Look, those are the people who bullied you. They’re about to die. Are you happy?”
Those old women, who were usually arrogant and domineering, were now engulfed in flames. Their skin was charred black, and even their usually vicious faces were blurred, covered in burn marks.
They were so close, so close that the child could see their skin being consumed by the flames, so close that he could see
them violently struggling, then gradually losing strength, falling to the ground, completely consumed by the flames.
The child just stared blankly at everything, at the increasingly raging fire, and murmured, “Why?”
Why did all these people die? He disliked these people on the estate, but he never thought of killing them.
And the gardener, why did the gardener also die?
Why?
That person clearly promised to reunite the gardener with his old wife. Why did he kill the gardener?
Why did he break his promise?
He clearly promised him.
He wanted to find that man and ask him clearly, why did he do this?
But the person who took him away didn’t give him that chance.
He was taken to a strange place, where everyone wore masks and the same clothes. The man who brought him there threw him into that terrifying abyss and left.
And he never saw Song Bingcheng again.
The person who said he would take care of him.
The next day, when Jiang Yimian left Bao Xiang Shop, many people had already arrived at the shop, almost all of them buying lipstick and scented powder.
After a day’s fermentation, Bao Xiang Shop’s Cut Worries and lipstick had spread throughout the Noble Ladies’ Circle.
Early in the morning, Bao Xiang Shop was bustling with activity, with many people buying lipstick.
In just over an hour, more than half of the three thousand lipsticks Jiang Yimian brought had been sold.
A’shu was bustling about in the main hall, enthusiastically introducing the shop’s lipsticks to everyone. She was busy and happy, her small face flushed from the work, but she was full of energy, as if she had been injected with a stimulant.
The others were the same, all refreshed and energetic, unlike their listlessness of previous days.
Even Xiao Chun and the others in the workshop were working particularly hard.
Aunt Yun finally sighed in relief, looking at everyone’s condition, “Yesterday I was still worried that your method, Yimian, would fail! Now it seems I was overthinking.”
She had thought that those noble ladies in the capital were all going to see the Young Marquis, and even if Chen Feiyan specifically mentioned the lipstick and Cut Worries, everyone probably wouldn’t care.
Unexpectedly, after noon yesterday, many people immediately came to Bao Xiang Shop.
Jiang Yimian just smiled. Seeing everyone busy, she said, “I’m going back today. Next time I come, I’ll probably stay in the capital.”
She had been in the capital for several days, and she guessed that Wang Fengqin and the others had already arrived at the estate.
This return would be a family reunion, and since they were all here, she planned to settle in the capital.
It would save her from traveling back and forth. Pingjiang County, although not far from the capital, still required a day’s journey, and the travel was tiring.
It was hard for the family to reunite, and she didn’t want to be separated again.
She believed Wang Fengqin and the others felt the same way.
Aunt Yun smiled and said, “That’s good. Where do you plan to live? I can help you look for a residence nearby.”
Jiang Yimian nodded and thanked her.
She wasn’t familiar with the capital, and having Aunt Yun help her find a residence would be much easier.
Jiang Yimian mentioned some requirements for the residence. Seeing that Aunt Yun had written them down, she left directly.
The horse galloped quickly along the mountain road. To return to Pingjiang County on the same day, Jiang Yimian deliberately chose a small path.
The path in the woods was sparsely populated, overgrown with weeds, and the horse didn’t find it easy to walk. The journey was bumpy.
Fortunately, Jiang Yimian was used to such paths, and she quickly crossed a hilltop.
Halfway through, the horse refused to move, stubbornly stopping to eat grass, refusing to budge.
Jiang Yimian had no choice but to give the horse some water. Thinking of letting the horse rest before continuing, she suddenly heard a faint sound of fighting nearby.
The sound was very small, but on closer listening, the fighting sounds quickly disappeared.
Jiang Yimian frowned. Listening to the faint sounds, she determined that it was far away and wouldn’t affect her, so she didn’t pay further attention.
In the wilderness, although the fighting sounds were small, it was clear that there were many people involved. It was best for her not to get involved.
Just as she was thinking, a rustling sound suddenly came from the nearby bushes.
Jiang Yimian gripped the curved blade dagger in her hand and cautiously approached.
Only when she got closer did she discover that a man was lying in the bushes.
The man was in his early twenties, handsome, especially his pair of long, narrow phoenix eyes, which were extremely alluring, but those beautiful eyes were now filled with killing intent.
His entire handsome face was crumpled, and the hand covering his chest was trembling slightly, as if he was injured.
His simple brocade robe was stained with a lot of blood, mixed with mud and sand, looking somewhat disheveled, but it did not diminish his bearing in the slightest.
