Weekend . My first holiday since entering the school. As promised, today is my date with Nina.
Karon and the others were envious, but they didn’t pursue him any further. They say it’s a rule not to interfere at times like this. What’s the rule?
I was going to accept a request from the Adventurers’ Guild, so I headed to the guild in King’s Landing with Nina.
I’m not disguised as a Sith, by the way. Today is just a date with Zechs. You should keep that in mind.
They walk through the streets of King’s Landing in silence. Nina isn’t much of a talker, so there isn’t much conversation when you’re alone with her. The air is not heavy, though. I felt a strange sense of security that this was normal.
And Nina seems to be in a good mood today. She has the same blank expression on her face as usual, but I can sense a slight exuberance in her voice. I’m glad that she’s enjoying this day alone with me.
Soon after, we arrived at the Royal City branch of the Adventurers’ Guild. The overall design of the branch is the same as that of the Foranada branch. The Westandoor entrance and exit, the bulletin board with requests, the adjoining tavern, and other features make it an orthodox adventurers’ guild. It’s no surprise that the guilds are all run by the same company.
But since it’s in the royal capital, the scale of this place is far larger than any other. The building has ten floors, and the area of the grounds seems to be ten times the size of the city. There are quite a few people inside.
“Wow, it’s gonna be tough to get the job.”
“Oh, my God…”
I tried to avoid the crowds, but they were not over yet. The front of the board was also full of adventurers, of course.
I’ll give you a minute.
The good request is gone, but since the purpose of today was to work together, I could make the decision without worrying too much. We avoid the crowds and sit down at an empty bar for two.
We order non-alcoholic drinks and sip them while killing time.
But such a peaceful way to pass the time is doomed to failure.
“Hey, your sister’s an adventurer. Why don’t you take the job with us?
It’s because three guys with bad looks approached us– no, Nina.
Nina is extremely beautiful even without her family’s favoritism. In addition, she has a style that could rival that of a gravure idol. She has a “cool” look to her, but she is not unattractive to men. It’s not surprising that she was picked up by a guy like this.
“Oh, my God, these people.”
She lets out an uncomfortable squeak as the men look at her reproachfully, smiling at her.
He didn’t seem to understand the situation very well, so he looked at me and asked for an explanation.
“I’m picking up a girl.”
“Pick up… Hit on me?
I cowered my shoulders. It seems that she had never thought she would be the target of such a situation.
Come to think of it, this is the first time she’s been picked up. She was too well-known in Foranada for anyone to make a foolhardy suicide mission. She was swarmed by screaming women fans, though.
In addition, she’s always been surrounded by beautiful women like Karon, Minerva, and Zion, so her sense of beauty may be a little off. It’s possible that she doesn’t even recognize herself as a beauty.
“Nina’s beautiful, that’s why men are attracted to her.”
“Pretty? I am?”
“I’ve complimented you many times.”
I thought it was some kind of friendly smooch.
“Hey, hey, hey.”
As expected. And he thought my compliments were flattery. That’s sad.
While we were having a casual conversation like that, the men got impatient and started yelling at us.
Don’t you fucking ignore me!
Just because she’s a little pretty doesn’t mean she’s a little bit crazy.
I’m gonna beat the shit out of that guy, too!
With that, they drew their weapons.
They’re a bunch of lowlifes. I’m sorry I was rude to you, but don’t take out your weapons on me like this.
The sudden situation didn’t cause a commotion. No, they were noisy, but they were rather enjoying the accident.” “Let’s do it!” or “Let’s bet who’s gonna win.” Most of the conversations are like…
You’re an adventurer. You’re no stranger to the wild side of things.
The guild officials seemed to turn a blind eye to the situation, so it seemed that we had no choice but to solve the problem ourselves.
He let out a sigh and was about to get up when Nina called for him.
I’ll do it.
I’m not much of an opponent, so if she’s up to it, I’ll leave it to her. I sit back down and Nina stands up.
She had been lethargic a moment ago, but in that instant she flipped a switch. She has a dignified air about her and combined with her height of over 170 she exudes a heavy sense of intimidation.
Everyone recognizes Nina as a veteran soldier. Silence fell over the noisy surroundings, and the men were slightly taken aback.
But soon the men came to their senses. They couldn’t forgive themselves for being intimidated by a woman.
You’ve got some work to do, but don’t get cocky.
“Yes, I’ll show you that I’m a frog in a well!”
“They say we’re close to Rank A…”
Get off the phone. You’re wasting my time.”
“””You bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” “””
Nina replies in a painstaking manner and the three of them run out of the room.
He seems to be surprisingly uncompromising in combat, and he’s attacked us with some impressive formations. It seems he’s not lying when he says he’s near Rank A.
I’m going to be in a position to intercept her with my bare hands.
We were at fault. Just give him a little pat.”
He nodded, a little disapproving but understandably so. Now I don’t have to worry about the guys getting their lives turned upside down again.
The battle was over instantly. I don’t think it lasted more than five seconds. I ran at him and hit him in the tail. Three more times and it was over.
It’s not surprising. It’s easy to do that under unrestricted circumstances.
The men crumple to the ground and the adventurers around them freeze. The guild, which had been so full of excitement, is now enveloped in a painful silence.
They were good men, I’m told, and to be defeated in the blink of an eye would be disheartening.
Well, it’s not our problem.
Let’s get the job while we still can.
Nina and I quickly move to the bulletin board and pull off the appropriate piece of paper from there. We knew this was going to happen when we were picked up, so we had a good idea of what we were going to ask for. She rushes to the receptionist’s desk, which is just opening.
I’ll take the job.
The stunned receptionist snapped out of her reverie at the sound of Nina’s voice. Since she was not registered as an adventurer under Zechs’s name, Nina completed the necessary paperwork.
She is a receptionist who works in King’s Landing and does her job well even when she is taken by surprise, but when she sees Nina’s Adventurer’s Card, she screams out in a crazy voice.
“What, Dragon Buster the Dragon Destroying Swordsman?
It’s a good thing we were able to set up the counter-intelligence warding just in the nick of time, but if we’d been a little later we would have caused even more commotion.
Nina’s cold voice urged us to go ahead and the order was quickly completed. The guild is a very large and very well-known organization.
You huff and puff some distance away from the guild.
“I’m glad we were able to pull out before things got too crazy.”
“That’s a rank near A. Adventurers in King’s Landing are of poor quality…”
Nina cowered, disappointed.
I laugh in response.
I think that’s normal, don’t you?
Foranada’s barely a rank B.
“That’s because Foranada is an anomaly. Common sense says they’re good enough.
The knights got stronger and the adventurers got better for some reason. I think it was one of the knights who taught them how to be adventurers. Fornada’s a bit strange now, even in my opinion.
Then Nina opened her mouth.
“Oh, Zechs is just telling me what’s normal…”
“Isn’t that a bit rude?”
I’ve told you many times, I’m not a man without common sense. I just ignore them.
What’s that about? What did you ask me to do?
“Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. It’s okay.
I don’t know what’s going on, but I don’t want to argue about it. I’ve changed my mind.
“Taking down a herd of cutter condors. They’ve built a nest along the road.”
“A flying hexenbiest… “troublesome…”
Nina’s an orthodox swordsman… so her offensive options are limited. I suppose you could say that.
She looks disappointed and I give her a small smile.
But it’s good training.
“… This was supposed to be a date. Not training.
Oops, wrong choice of words. He’s been staring at me.
I have a proposal to put Nina back in a good mood.
“If you can kill more cutter-condors than I can, I’ll give you whatever you want as far as I can. With a handicap, of course. Well… [How about I don’t use any magic except Enhancement?
It seems to have been more effective than I thought. Nina answers immediately.
I’m getting a little nervous.
“Just so you know, it’s as much as I can do. Don’t ask too much of me.”
Another quick answer.
Well, do you really know what you’re doing?
Well, it won’t matter if I win. Let’s show them that even with a handicap, my walls are still high. Ho-ho-ho!
